• With exception of Ignis, three out of the four great elementals are based on elemental beings from A Book on Nymphs, Sylphs, Pygmies, and Salamanders, and on the Other Spirits.
• Although most undines are monsterized pure water elementals, there is at least one case of a mermaid reincarnated as an undine by Poseidon<ref>World Guide Side 3; Al Mar's History</ref>.
