The Monster Girl Encyclopedia originally started out as a compendium of knowledge concerning monster girls, also know as mamono, created by the artist Kenkou Cross. Written from the viewpoint of a nameless traveler, the encyclopedias most often recognised element is the monster girl "profiles", ecological write-ups about each race.
Since its inception, MGE has grown to include a larger setting, which paints a picture of the strained conflict between the Demon Lord and her monster girls, versus the Chief Goddess and her Order.
