==Cultures== The majority of the world (the main continent, Dragonia, and Court Alf) is a reflection of medieval and renaissance European culture common to fantasy setting, with dark mamono realms leaning toward a gothic aesthetic. There is a mixture of different cultures; with the Desert Region being based on ancient Egyptian-Arabic hybrid, Zipangu being based on medieval Japan, and the Mist Continent being wuxia China. There're also elements of modern days culture, such as Saida's neon light, and Momonika Sabbath's clothing. It's noted that the Chief God's festival being a holiday important to many people Among mamono, the "Anniversary of the Ascension of the Mamono Lord" is commonly celebrated for the gaining of the bodies monsters now have, and their gratitude to the Mamono Lord for it. It’s widely considered a day to dress in special revealing outfits to show off those bodies. ===Languages=== :Refer to: Languages of the MGE The most widely used language among both humans and monsters is the "Chief God Language," which is said to have been brought to humans by the chief god. Since many monsters did not possess any language in the previous era, when they became monster girls they often took on the main language the humans used. This language is good for telling stories and writing poetry, and most literary works by monsters and humans alike are written in this language. There are also races that have their own language, but also use the Chief God language as an additional official language, such as Elvish for elves, and Dwarvish for dwarves. Cultures where the influence of the Order has been weak through history (such as the Mist Continent and Zipangu), have their own, distinct, languages. There is also a general "Monster Language" that has been spoken among the higher-rank monsters since ancient times. It is known for its directness compared to the theistic language of the chief deity, and for having many words that express complex things with a single word. It is thus very suitable for casting magic. This language historically was limited to certain intelligent monster races, such as demons, succubi, vampires and baphomets, and upon gaining sapience in the current era most monsters adopted the chief god language, as it was easier to communicate with humans using this than the monster language, and many monsters that did speak the language gave it up in favor of the chief god language. However, even in the present some specialized Sabbath grimoires are written in this language, and there are many high rank monsters that can speak the monster language. Further, because most monsters that did speak in the previous era still rarely communicated or cooperated with other types of monsters, subtle differences in the monster language developed between races, that humans would define as dialects. These include: * The "Standard Language" is used by demons, baphomets and witches. It is the most formal and easy to use. * The "Inma's Language" contains many words with lewd meanings and tends to be naturally lascivious and seductive. * The "Vampire Language" has many commanding words and tends to be pronounced in a overbearing tone. There is an "Abyssal Language" spoken by some monsters that live in the deep sea. It is completely different from the other monster language. One feature of the "Abyssal language" is that it is only pronounceable by married abyssal monsters, as speaking it requires overlapping her voice with that of her husband when their bodies are linked. This simultaneous speech is possible not through standard telepathy, as that would still have a time delay, but more through the couple being able to outright communicate to each other what the other is going to say or think before they say or think it, as if they were predicting each other's thoughts, allowing them speak as if they were one person. Lastly, there is "Spiritish" special language used for Elemental Magic. ===Faiths=== * The Order of the Chief God - The largest and most mainstream of religions amongst humans and non-monster races. It is headquartered in a large nation sharing its name, headed by a Pope. It espouses that there are multiple gods, the Chief God being prime among them, but there are several sects within it dedicated to gods other than the Chief God. Some gods have been rejected from the pantheon due to siding with monsters in the ongoing conflict, others who are more neutral, granting blessings to humans, as well as monsters, are either tolerated but viewed with suspicion, or quietly ignored. Most Angels follow the gods of this pantheon. It considers monsters to be inherently evil, though exceptions for especially peaceful monsters are made, and the anti-monster fervor varies from kingdom to kingdom. Despite the stance against monster, there're still monsters worshiping the Chief God herself and even received her blessing. At least one church of the Chief God is present in a mamono realm, the 'Dé Ryúa' island of Court Alf, and appears to be on friendly terms with local monsters. Monsters following the Chief God's teaching would ignore the problematic parts about killing monsters or suppression of desire. * The Fallen Faith - The faith surrounding the Fallen God who resides in Pandemonium, their worshipers focus on the corruption of the pure into hedonistic indulgence, prime among the adherents are Dark Angels and Dark Priests. Adherents often perform 'missionary' work converting others to the faith and corrupting them, but upon obtaining a partner they like, these duties cease. Many worshipers will make a pilgrimage to Pandemonium with their partner to experience never-ending pleasure. * Elemental Faith - A faith worshipping various elementals, and exalts those with close ties with Elementals, such as Trolls. It is unknown how the faith is tolerated in Order lands, but it is split between two factions, those who believe that monsterized elementals are a natural evolution for Elementals and should be exalted, and those who believe that monsterized elementals have been corrupted. * Sabbath - The organization has aspects of a religious organization in which witches who strongly idolize their baphomet leaders conduct activities to spread the childish charm and depravity glorified by Sabbath to the world. Sabbath's activities in the ages of former mamono lords often had mocking and blasphemous tone against the Order, such as using Space Creation Spell to create “backsides” of the chief god's churches to conduct their activities. The religious aspects of the organization seems to get toned down in the current era, however, although they still carry out the same activities as a formality due to old traditions. * Snake Cultism - A monster-worshipping faith which exalts serpentine monsters, and apparently worship Echidna as a snake god. To them, the snake is the symbol of bountiful harvest, eternity, and womanhood. Its adherents use various rituals to turn human women in their ranks into members of the Lamia family, while male members seek to become the husbands of Lamia family monsters. The highest goal is to become an Echidna themselves, but since such a ritual is also the most difficult and lengthy, most members are satisfied with seeking to become lower-tier types of Lamia. * Dragon Worship - At least one human nation worships a dragon as their god. This doesn't change after the dragon transformed into a Malef Dragon. * Ryu Worship - Ryu, native to the Zipangu region, are often worshiped as water gods for their ability to control the weather and call rain. Men are gifted to them as husbands, who the Ryu use to gather enough essence to call the rain when needed. The Ryu is attended by Shirohebi. * Inari Worship - Inari are often worshiped in shrines in Zipangu. Occasionally, the Inari will produce Kitsune-bi and turn their shrine maidens into Kitsune-tsuki. * Tezcatlipoca Worship - The Ocelomeh revere these other monsters as gods, practising a violent faith of bestial lust. * Poseidon's Faith - The oceanic nation Court Alf worships Sea Goddess Poseidon as its state religion. * Four Gods - The Land of the Four Gods, a nation of the Mist Continent, reveres four great monsters as divinities. * Four Souls - The Land of the Four Souls, another nation of the Mist Continent, worship the monsters known as the Four Souls as gods. They live in the holy land high in the mountains, disengaged from the strife of the common world. Now and then, however, humans of the Land of the Four Souls travel to them to receive their power. Incubi revered as transcendent sages, or "xian", who have made the power of the holy land their own. * Hel's Faith - As the goddess of life and death whose blessing is required for advanced necromancy, Hel has many undeads as devoted followers including a whole brach of Sabbath.
